Upstairs in our Secret Room, Luca is hosting a Sangiovese Masterclass. Focusing on what could only be termed central Italy’s...
Chilled red wine in the summer months is nothing new. It is a one-stop method to not have to resort entirely to rosé and white (heaven forbid with an ice cube). More often than not, the go-to is a Beaujolais. Others to join the ‘summer party’ are delicate Pinot Noirs and Valpolicella as a bit of chill accentuates its vibrant cherry notes. And, we obviously prescribe to the opinion that chilling red wine justifies drinking it all summer long…
But! We do not think that the only red wines that should be drunk cold are light, fruity reds.
We like to mix things up a bit and go beyond the expected. To quote Luca ‘drinking Dettori’s wines on ice is a form of therapy’. These are wines with age, body and texture.
Our July Masterclass will focus on chilled red wines, yet not as you know them. Instead, the line-up will be intense reds that drinking cold brings out a rather different flavour profile. The tannins are suppressed allowing for a new sense of depth and intensity. Expect a journey into the unknown.
Join Luca for an evening Upstairs in our Secret Room we are holding a Masterclass on the wines of Barbagia. The Masterclass will comprise a tasting of 6 wines accompanied by sharing platters with food that will match perfectly with the wine selection.
